Why not just have a few sticky note, arrows, etc.-type controls you can add to a page like Balsamiq? A more robust annotation system would be ideal but a sticky note would be pretty easy to implement and at least be a decent stop-gap. I'm currently a paying user but not sure if I want to continue without having SOME way of annotating.

My partner and I were all set to move ahead with choosing Mockingbird until we realized it didn't have the option to post comments or feedback on the wireframes? Sad trombone, we have to go somewhere else.

Without collaborative features this is no different from a desktop app.

You've got to, got to add a comment (annotation, note, mark up) widget. I can hardly believe this feature isn't in the product. And to go with this, an arrow that can be made to point anywhere rather than just up, down, L and R. A certain other mock up tool beginning with B does this rather well and even allow you to toggle the comments on and off.

The ability to add comments to areas of the page would be huge. I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't figure out how to do it. This product is so intuitive and easy I never would have thought that such a basic feature like this doesn't exist. How else are people recording notes to explain functionality to their developers?

I am currently exporting the wireframes as PDF files and having the client annotate them - it is not a good workflow. Please add annotations soon!

i'd like to add my voice to the chorus asking for a simple red/orange circle with a number on it (very similar to gliffy.com). it's one of the easiest/cleanest way for adding notes to a document. other than that, thanks for the great product

I added my votes too. I need to be able to explain to clients why I put something here rather than there or where professional copy will be necessary or where I need feedback or have questions ... so many notes I need to make that are difficult to cover in an email.

I've been using Notable on top of a PNG of my mockups which is just ridiculously useless.

That said, I do resort to AxureRP when necessary because of the heightened complexity and ability to handle annotations and interactivity. I'd like *not* to have to do so ... and annotations would be a huge step toward making my life easier :)

It's already planned but I'm still adding 3 more votes onto the heap. My 2 cents on this feature:

        1. Designing a UI and explaining the behavior are 2 pretty different tasks in my mind, and in terms of the conversations I have with other people. I find it smoother to draw out the UI, and then add explanatory notes.

        2. Having the annotations "attached" to an arbitrary graphical element would be splendid. They'd remain "semantically connected" and then could be automatically drawn in a separate layer / mode as "callout boxes" with an arrow pointing back to the visual element.

        3. Basically this is an "uber-comment" kind of feature; letting people comment in a more directed way on specific parts of the interface. It would be there to facilitate conversation, and provide longer textual explanations when that works better than showing directly.

Hmmm not THAT important guys, just create another page just for yourself...
And write in stuff I guess, if you don't want to use a notebook lol

Chiming in with the importance of this feature - am gonna spend 3 of my newly minted votes on this. ;-\

Really do need this, as we have to always explain what this page is for.
        Gets annoying and repeated alot

yes, definitely the only aspect really lacking for me is being able to put notes on these wireframes. At the moment I am having to write out and explain each point/option and it's not very intuitive or visual!

Created a suggest for mouseover annotations before I saw this. Some way to communicate the purpose/meaning of a widget to the user/tester is critical.

Is there a timeframe for this? This is the only feature that Balsamiq has over mockingbird. Mockingbird leaves balsamiq for dead at present as they are still finalising their online version.

Annotations are crucial for me - especially when creating functional specs for clients and my team!

Ideally, I'll be able to stick little red circles with numbers inside next to features in the wireframe. And along the side, will be notes that correspond with the little numbered circles.
